I’m not asking if your grandparents went to church, or if you were baptized. I’m not asking if you walked an aisle, prayed a prayer, or felt a fire in your bosom. I’m not asking if you are a church-member or if you pray every day. I am not asking if you are a good person or know lots of Scripture. I am asking if you have a genuine relationship with God through the Savior, Jesus Christ.
I ask because I was confused about salvation for a long time. I did my best to do good things and always had a “plan B”, which was basically a buzzer-beater-half-court-long-shot prayer to “get me in at the last second”. I do hope that is not your plan, because God has something so much better for you.
Sept. 18 I preached from 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “such were some of you”. No one is beyond the reach OR the need of God’s grace! One man in the follow-up group shared how the Adventists tried to baptize him after he finished filling out their booklet, but he didn’t think the they explained the Bible correctly. Pray with us that Leonel understands and receives the Gospel of grace!
Please continue to pray for the Lord to open the eyes of the blind to the brilliant light of the Lord Jesus Christ!
What a privilege to share the Gospel with these groups! Two of the ladies who came on Sept 16 and stayed afterward said that they had never heard the Gospel preached in their (supposedly) Evangelical church.
God continues to provide opportunities to share the good news! “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins…
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—”
Ephesians 2:1, 4-5
So many people claim to be Christians, yet cannot even tell you what the Gospel is nor show any signs of understanding it. “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
Have you received the greatest blessing? Do you see yourself as needing God’s grace? Have you been made alive in Christ? Are you striving for holiness? May the Lord bless and keep you!
